ABOVE: The kitchen “functions perfectly for the Cornells’ style of entertaining,” Smith says, noting that the couple think nothing of entertaining 50 or more guests for family get-togethers and holidays.

The azure skies of the Mediterranean inspired the use of blue in the nearby breakfast room, while the sunlit French countryside led the designers to choose a dijon hue for the master suite walls. Accent colors in the master suite were plucked from the front panels of an antique Austrian armoire. The canopy bed features a hand-painted wood finish that resembles the armoire’s.

Blanketed in white, the master bath evokes an Old World feel with its architectural details.

Drawing from the ageless character and sunfilled aura of the French countryside, Smith and Earnest created an interior reflective of their clients’ refined taste and gracious lifestyle.
