International and urbane, this Key Biscayne residence radiates cosmopolitan verve — just like the owner’s Paris apartment. When the owner bought this condominium, she asked designer Gustavo Angeli to instill the interior with the same kind of sophistication he had given her Paris home.
“I fell in love with Key Biscayne for its informal yet sophisticated atmosphere, and the apartment for its open space, expansive terraces, and views of the water and Miami skyline,” the owner says. “With his
fresh ideas, I knew Gustavo was perfect for the job.” Taking the apartment’s location into account, Angeli wanted the interior to

reference Miami Beach’s well-known Art Deco District. To that end, he created
an atmosphere of serenity and modernity by playing with a mix of contemporary styles. “The underlying Art Deco theme is evident in the sculptural lines of the furnishings and decorative elements,” he says.
To further the Art Deco feel, Angeli created painted canvases with curvilinear lines and rectilinear forms that he placed on doors and walls throughout the home. “I used a variety of forms, colors and complementary
materials, with some contrasts to accentuate the mood, and at the same time, generate surprise,” Angeli says.
