From the foyer, red birch flooring travels into the living area and down the hallway. “We softened the home’s formal look by using wood instead of marble,” Sparrow says. “The flooring also blends with the woods of the various antiques.”
In the living area, soft shades of coral, aqua and cream allude to the penthouse’s South Florida locale. Shimmering aqua silk damask dresses the sofas, while coral damask covers a pair of lounge chairs. Next to one sofa rests the owner’s antique table with an inlaid marble top and gilded legs.


The custom-designed area rug underscores the room’s palette. “The owner and I picked all the colors and selected the yarns,” Sparrow says.
In the adjoining dining area, Zukerman incorporated arched niches into a symmetrical cabinetry design. “We took out a wet bar to create niches to display the owner’s personal items, and hung antique pendants that blend with the furnishings,” she says.
The space between the niches provides the perfect spot for an antique settee with a French pedigree. Vintage bird’s-eye maple chairs surround a table
