Linda K. Halpert’s design philosophy brings to mind French author Marcel Proust’s famous quote: “The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes.” In other words, Linda says, “regardless of the particular design style or theme, ideas come from everywhere if you open your eyes and sense the world around you.”
And like a French villa in one of Proust’s beloved novels, Linda and husband Alan’s home abounds with centuries-old influences

that convey timeworn character and European elegance. Elaborate faux painting, trompe l’oeils and murals form a classic backdrop for an elegant European design. French artists Martine and Jacques Pacteau lived with the Halperts for more than a year to complete the extensive finishes.
