In my household, the subject of golf comes up frequently — something you can’t avoid when your husband is a golf professional. So when I mentioned that we were going to feature the home of PGA Tour professional Chris DiMarco in this issue, my “golf talk” was finally on a par with his.

For their new house in Central Florida, Chris and wife Amy asked designer Anne Rue to create an environment in which they could relax and unwind with family and friends. Having visited many ski lodges, the couple wanted their home to exude the same warmth and character. By blending Old World elegance with stylish rusticity, Rue delivers the desired look.

Rather than build a house from the ground up, architect Barry Sugerman and his wife, Barbara, opted to buy an existing one in Miami Beach and completely renovate it. “The view of Biscayne Bay and the location were too exceptional to pass up,” says Barry, whose contemporary geometric design, both inside and out, provides a strong framework for the couple’s eclectic art collection.

In Naples, Fla., a commanding blend of classic Italianate elements defines an estate designed by architect Jeff Harrell and interior designer Betsy Godfrey. Harrell’s concept seamlessly integrates the home’s interior and exterior spaces, while Godfrey’s casually elegant interpretation captures the essence of indoor/outdoor living Florida style.

Among the country’s architects of distinction, Frank Lloyd Wright heads the list. Famous for his Prairie House style, Wright also designed stained-glass windows. These topics form the basis of an exhibit at the Boca Raton Museum of Art that runs from Sept. 10 to Nov. 9, 2003.
