and were very involved in the decision-making process throughout.” Rue, who also designed the couple’s previous residence, recalled Amy’s copious research efforts on everything from furniture styles to materials, and knew she would approach this home with the same fervor. “She had a very clear idea in mind — something rustic, yet elegant and homey, with subdued colors, fine architectural details, and lots of layering of textures and patterns,” Rue says.

Amy adds that the real inspiration for the project were the many ski lodges and private homes the DiMarcos have visited during their annual ski trips to Aspen, Colo. “What I tried to capture was not so much the actual design styles, but the warmth and character,” Amy says.
