Like a camera’s lens, the windows of this Miami condominium frame panoramic views of the urban landscape to the west and the Atlantic Ocean to the east. At the same time, the interior of the 18th-floor apartment reflects the keen eye of designer Fanny Haim, whose clients desired a relaxed vacation retreat.
The couple — a Mexican architect and his ceramist wife — bought the apartment when the building was under construction. Friends familiar with Haim’s work in this country and Mexico recommended her to the owners, who

retained her to transform the empty space into a one-of-a-kind residence.
“They envisioned a light, airy environment with clean-lined, contemporary furniture that was timeless rather than trendy,” Haim says.
Haim began by altering the floor plan to make the most of the apartment’s east-west orientation. Originally, the walls in the foyer separated the two main living areas, so she removed them
