ABOVE: In the library, a lounge chair pairs with a carved-wood ottoman
from Laneventure’s “Palm Beach Collection by Mimi & Brooke,” created by the
principals of Kemble Interiors, Inc. Boussac Fadini’s ocelot print tops the ottoman.
Alluding to the greenery outside, a botanical-print fabric from Old World Weavers
envelops the sofa in the library. “Platanal,” an oil painting by Margarita Lozano, reflects
the artist’s love of Colombia and the country’s lush rainforests.
Miller accentuated the ceiling with a subtle wall
covering to complement the original gold rope
molding. Draperies flow from black wrought-iron
rods positioned close to the ceiling. “I always want to add as much height as possible to a room, and draperies do that,” Miller says.
An archway in the main living room opens to the
“loggia” part on the opposite side. “Both rooms are perfectly proportioned, creating an inviting and especially comfortable feeling,” McMakin says. Wood-framed armchairs with pale greenstriped silk cushions gather near a golden floralpatterned sofa. Amber crushed-velvet lounge chairs and an ottoman round out the seating. At the far end of the room, French doors access the trellis lanai, which extends the room’s casual feel.

The library exudes the same relaxed ambiance with its tropical-inspired design. Parrot-green walls and cabinetry provide the backdrop for a botanical-print sofa, a moss-hued lounge chair and an English barrel chair covered in an ocelot print.
In the master bedroom, the walls are faux painted a restful shade of seafoam. A secretary with a hand-painted floral design pairs with a chair with a green-and-white plaid cushion. The same plaid
fashions the window treatments and upholsters a slipper chair. Citing fabricator Paul Maybaum’s exquisite craftsmanship, Miller says, “It’s the subtle details like the grosgrain scallop along the valances
that set his work apart.”
