“THE LIVING ROOM IS A PLACE TO HANG OUT WITH
FRIENDS,” SAYS DESIGNER EDWARD DAVID NIETO.

Cobalt-blue outdoor carpet colors the terrace, where white Italian chairs surround a teak table. A comfy teak chair sports blue-striped cushions.

Bold works of art, such as the owner’s graffiti-like painting in the desk area, reflect his vibrant personality. Located in the living room, the desk area also illustrates his preference for streamlined design. A floating-glass shelf becomes a work station for a computer so the owner can check emails or tend to urgent matters. The classic tulip chair at

the desk can be moved into the living room for additional seating.

“There are no formal areas. That’s not what this apartment is about,” Nieto says.

Track lighting defines the living room’s conversation area. Here, serpentine-shaped white leather sofas surround a weighty wenge-wood cocktail table. Against a wall, a plasma TV hangs above a wenge-wood media cabinet with a white lacquer underlay.
