ABOVE: Works of abstract art by Murray Israel, titled “Variations on a Square/Infinity,” command attention in the living area, where designer Allison Paladino created two groupings that include Todd Hase’s sofas and Nancy Corzine’s lounge chairs.

To create a linear framework for such a design, Paladino first had to reconfigure the home’s existing floor plan. “There were a lot of strange angles and a confusing layout,” Paladino says. “The interior did not feel good, and symmetry and balance always feel right.”

Next, Paladino painted the walls matte graygreen to create a neutral canvas, and honed the carrera marble flooring to add warmth. Rich mahogany furnishings and softly hued area rugs further establish the modern mood.
