Empire, French And American Antiques Combine To Give This Antebellum-Inspired
Home Turn-Of-The-Century Warmth
 

Natchez, Miss. and Williamsburg, Va. were the inspiration for this home’s Southern-style exterior. “We jokingly referred to the house as ‘Tara’ for its ‘Gone With The Wind’ look,” owner Barbara Draper says.

 
 

Building a 17,000-square-foot dream home in Lakeland, Fla. proved to be “one of the greatest, most fulfilling experiences” for Robert and Barbara Draper, who have been married for three decades.

The Drapers commissioned interior designer Terence Leet at the beginning of the project, when there was nothing but an empty lot and a vague vision.
