Designer Terence Leet mixed a 19th-century antique breakfront and center table with eclectic seating in the foyer. Red Scalamandré fabric dresses the settee and chairs. “No seating is off limits,” Leet says.

Rodriguez used detailed moldings and beams throughout the home to keep its large scale elegant rather than empty. “Too often, people skimp on molding and end up with a lonely feeling room,” he says.
When designing the interior, Leet took into consideration the Drapers’ basic living, entertaining and working needs. The antebellum-style home had to have an effortless blend of 19th-century decor and modern comfort.

After all, the furnishings have to withstand daily use by five children, grandchildren and other relatives who spend the season with the couple. “Because the Drapers like to live in every part of their house, every piece of furniture had to be functional, comfortable and durable,” Leet says.
