To create a melodic fusion of styles, Haim selected
specific Art Deco pieces from the Reids’ personal
collection and incorporated French Modernist items
along with compatible contemporary pieces. “Making
the Art Deco pieces a focal point was the genesis
of the design concept,” Haim says. |
Upon entering
the foyer, an illuminated assemblage of artifacts,
vintage photography and paintings provides an engaging
glimpse of what lies beyond. In the center of the
space, African water vessels top a striking, geometric
Art Deco table made of palissandre wood and goatskin.
On one wall hangs a black-and-white photograph by
Henri Cartier-Bresson — one of several by the
eminent French photojournalist on view in the home. |
