This fall, Florida Design sheds light on the many seductions of South Florida. We travel the coast to discover hidden, high-style and historic beauty in its many forms.

From rough to refined — Robert Brown and Todd Davis remodeled a hidden Biscayne Bay gem, designed by L. Murray Dixon in 1938. To establish their home’s sense of place, this design duo kept many of the home’s original architectural elements intact. Inside, they blended antiques with contemporary pieces — a signature Brown Davis mix — to unify this exceptional design.
Breathtaking describes a high-style penthouse atop The Setai on South Beach. Its owners combined the two 40th-floor penthouses, then retained Allison Forbes and John Toates to embellish it with exquisite furnishings, exotic woods and rich colors. A rare blend of sophistication and Asian detail, this vacation getaway epitomizes luxury inside and out.

Reflecting the talents of Bob Biederman, a sprawling historic estate in Coral Gables echoes the feel and flavor of Palm Beach with fresh fabrics, sunlit colors and eclectic furnishings — an inviting setting for a young, vibrant family. Throughout, a spirited mix of textures and patterns, contemporary art and centuries-old antiques conveys a refined sense of elegance.

In addition, Florida Design travels to West Palm Beach and across the state to St. Armands Key, where the area’s top designers make their mark on showhouses — each historically significant in its own right.

Heading north, we explore the Emerald Coast, uncovering the many charming seaside communities that dot the landscape with their definitive architectural styles.
