As winter beckons the beginning of South Florida’s
cultural season, Florida Design takes time to revel
in the richness of art and architecture, enjoy the
cultural landscape and savor the art experience in
its many forms.
An artful blend of contemporary and classic styles
come together in a Mercer Island, Wash. home designed
by Gary Potter. Neutral backgrounds in this grand
interior set the stage for vivid accent colors that
pop in the owners’ collection of Chihuly glass.
Designer Scott Snyder’s clients, John and Andrea
Stark, are familiar with the fine art of living. Worldly
influences shape their Palm Beach estate with 19th-century
furnishings and objets d’art from the legendary
Villa Fiorentina in St.-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, France.
These gems and more color the pages within, where
the arts take center stage as the new Carnival Center
for the Performing Arts in Miami opens its doors for
a grand inaugural season. Museums display their latest
exhibitions in conjunction with Art Basel Miami Beach,
Design Miami and Art Miami from the historic Art Deco
District and across Biscayne Bay to the Miami Design
District.
Florida Design travels from the Gold Coast north to
the Treasure Coast to some of the most noteworthy
art and antique shows, including the Palm Beach America’s
International Fine Art & Antique Fair, Palm Beach
Jewelry & Antique Show, palmbeach3 and the Palm
Beach Fine Craft Show. Along the way, this issue offers
a preview of everything for collectors of fine art
and design.
Enjoy the season! |
