ABOVE: Enveloped
in deep crimson and burgundy hues, the library evokes
the feel of a gentlemans study in the late
1800s. For dramatic effect, Goodman draped the wall
behind the sofa with shirred crimson corduroy, then
framed the treatment with painted-white custom cabinetry.
The living
area flows into the bar area, where Regency-style,
cane-back barstools pull up to a granite countertop.
To the rear, a tray ceiling defines the intimate dining
area. Here, an elaborate crystal chandelier shines
above an antique Sheraton table surrounded by walnut
chairs from Italy. A pass-through above the buffet
frames a view of the kitchen/family room.
Creamy white wainscoting gives the kitchen/family
room the flavor of the Old South. In the family room,
a tufted lounge chair and a petite floral print sofa
create a cozy sitting area. A secretaire next to the
sofa belies its function as a computer desk.
In the kitchen, honey-maple cabinetry complements
an island with a wainscoted base and giallo granite
top. Goodman angled the island to make room for a
breakfast area that comprises a banquette, a drop-leaf
cherry-wood table and a pair of armchairs with floral
chintz backs and peach-and-white-plaid seats.
A palette of deep reds in the library brings to mind
the Victorian age. Shirred crimson corduroy provides
a dramatic backdrop for a camelback sofa upholstered
in burgundy, ivory and gold stripes. Accent pillows
depicting images of Napoleon adorn the sofa, while
a mahogany tray table rests in front of it. A walnut-veneered
desk and an antique globe further allude to a gentlemans
retreat from a bygone era.

ambiance of the master bath is bright and airy with
