or more than a decade, Barry Larkin, a shortstop for the Cincinnati Reds,
and his wife, Lisa, traveled to Central Florida for the team's spring training sessions that is, until they
decided to make Florida their permanent home about five years ago.
A young couple with three
children, the Larkins wanted their new house in Orlando to present a different perspective than their previous one,
which Lisa describes as "typical Florida." "This time we wanted something completely different," Lisa says. "No tiled
floors, no pastels, nothing traditionally Florida."
"The Larkins wanted a home
on a grand scale that would have high impact on first impression," designer David Pearson says. "But it had to be very
comfortable and fun lavish but not stuffy. They're really open to color, particularly warm, rich tones, so we
used their sense of adventure as the vehicle to create a look that was happy and alive."
