aptivated long ago by the allure of Palm Beach, a Michigan couple had no other locale in mind when they decided to buy a new seasonal residence. "We've been coming to Palm Beach for 20 years," the husband says. "We appreciate the town's beauty and didn't want to be anywhere else."

Envisioning a house with classic architectural lines, the couple fortuitously found what they were seeking while leisurely walking their dog along one of the island's palm-lined avenues. There it was — a newly built, Regency-style home that needed only a few modifications to suit their tastes.

Regency is named after the Prince of Wales, who served as regent for the king of England. "We definitely wanted our home to have a 19th-century, English design," the wife says.
