In the formal
dining room, Hefner chose two different styles of side chairs to accompany the upholstered host and hostess chairs at
the handcrafted Italian table. "We felt that mixing the upholstered and wood-framed chairs, as well as different
fabrics, would be interesting," Hefner says.
Warm and inviting,
the library blends merlot hues with dark mahogany cabinetry for a studious look. "The palette for the drapery and
furniture fabrics and wall covering was taken from the carpet's colors," Hefner explains. "The carpet is an authentic
reproduction of a Louis XVI-piece from Versailles."
The family room and
adjoining breakfast area are "where the Osherows truly live and spend time together," Hefner says. In the family room,
chenille- covered sofas face cabinetry made of hickory. A valance, accent pillows and a vase colored in seafoam green
harmonize with the room's ocean backdrop.
In the nearby
breakfast area, Country French chairs encircle a table with a distressed-wood top and wrought-iron base. continued...
