In the living area, chairs from B&B Italia swivel to take in the view. Philippe Starck's frosted-glass sconces punctuate the walls. "We have these sconces in our New York home and just love them," the owners say. "They seemed like a perfect fit for this house, too."

The owners, who purchased the house as a vacation retreat, wanted it to be a place to relax, unwind and not worry about a thing. The open patio and pool area, which faces Fort Lauderdale Beach on the Atlantic Ocean, readily fulfills that wish. Lined with iridescent cobalt blue and green glass tiles, the pool delights the eye with its waterfalls and fountains.

"The colors reflecting off the tiles give a kind of Paul Klee style to the pool," say the owners, referring to the artist's paintings of colored squares.

Inside the house, cobalt blue accents pop against a background of cream and white, creating an ambiance that's as airy as a tropical breeze. Beige saturnia marble flooring travels throughout the residence, maintaining the home's straightforward appearance.

In the living area, the original vaulted ceiling and beams were painted white to accentuate the windows and outdoor scenery. Identical groupings --- composed of a sofa/chaise covered in natural woolen silk, a cobalt blue Ultrasuede chair and a glass-topped cocktail table with stainless-steel bases --- anchor each end of the room, leaving the central area open for a large number of guests to mingle. continued...
