South America, such as Juan Raul Hoyos’ triptych,
“Flora,” Lina Binkele’s solid red
cedar horse and Beatriz Echeverri’s leather sculpture
on a pedestal, fill the living area of Santiago Bernal’s
Brickell Avenue loft. “When you leave your country,
you want to take a piece of it with you,” says
Bernal, a native of Colombia.
Though
the layout of this Brickell Avenue apartment didn’t
initially inspire designer Santiago Bernal, it did,
he admits, possess some unique characteristics that
piqued his interest and creative side. “The
apartment, located in a round building, had two small
bedrooms and a living room,” he recalls.
