mid the rolling hills of Central Florida, the rural town of Ocala stands
out for its natural terrain, blue lakes and horse farms, where sleek thoroughbreds graze in green pastures. Thickets of
ancient live oaks shadow the hilly landscape with their Spanish moss-draped limbs.
Nestled within a gently
wooded setting such as this is Dr. Robert and Mary Ann "Pokey" Feldman's home a sprawling estate that
encompasses a 155-acre tree and horse farm. Built primarily of cedar and Ocala limestone, the two-story house features
architectural elements from the Arts and Crafts movement, a style made famous by Frank Lloyd Wright in the early 1900s.
"The couple liked this
style because they wanted a home that was unpretentious and comfortable for them and their four children," designer
Michael P. Koontz explains. "Pokey and her husband have deep roots in the area and wanted this house to reflect the
natural environment."
