Judy was comfortable with the
designers’ penchant for neutrals, but she
says, “I asked for a bit more color in some
rooms, generally trusting their instincts on using
it sparingly, mainly for accents and artwork.”
To satisfy Judy’s wish for a little color
in the dining room, Smith and Earnest incorporated
a vibrant piece of art into the design.
The modern interpretation of the
Provençal countryside pops against taupe-colored,
fauxpainted walls. “My initial reaction was
that the painting might be a bit too contemporary,
but Jeff and Olen were absolutely right about it,”
Judy says.
Materials such as leather, stone, marble
and wood add to the room’s time-honored
character. “The dining and living rooms are
all about texture,” Smith says.
