“We were looking
for something for the corner when Cynthia and I
saw this old black screen hiding behind a cuckoo
clock,” the wife recalls. After scratching
the surface, the two realized the wood was the same
burnished-cherry color that Wild planned to use
for the millwork throughout the home. “I had
the piece meticulously stripped,” Wild says.
For the cocktail table,
Wild altered the base and legs of an English-style
dining table she found in another antique shop.
Surrounding the cocktail table are an upholstered
sofa and lounge chair that she custom designed,
and a pair of armless chairs and an ottoman that
she slightly customized.
The living area flows
into the dining area, which is distinguished by
four slender columns. In the center of the space
