BELOW: Rustic wood beams and faux-wood flooring give the card room a loft-like look. A Donghia game table and Nancy Corzine chairs afford the owners a place to play bridge, their new favorite pastime. Near the table hangs a red gouache-and-ink-on-paper by Hans Hofmann.
Understated furnishings in the dining area allow more art to shine, such as a trio of etchings and several commanding
sculptures. Here, a maple-stained tabletop is inlaid with an unusual gold-and-gray granite. Above the table, a mobile-like chandelier appears as a work of art.
In the den/media room, Ruben chose a rich periwinkle blue for the focus wall, providing a striking foil for a camel-colored leather sofa. On the wall, an oil painting reflects the

palette and introduces a few colors of its own. Upstairs, Ruben tore down a wall to create a card room, where stainless-steel poles and rustic beams add architectural punch. Seagrass chairs with leather seats and an armless chair covered in heavy silk complement the setting. Here and throughout the home, Ruben makes a strong design statement using contemporary furnishings and her clients’ eclectic art.
