The heart of the home is the family room and adjoining breakfast area/kitchen. “Chris, Amy and the kids really live in this part of the house,” Rue says. Open and inviting, the space centers around a hearth with a fieldstone surround. Other natural materials, such as leather and rattan, and a woodsy palette of rust, brown and neutral hues enhance the ski lodge-like setting.

Upstairs, daughter Amanda’s room was designed with a fairy princess in mind. Murals and decorative painting establish the theme, along with an array of colorful fabrics. A cottage-style trundle bed, a window seat and a tea table with poufs complete the storybook setting.

Cristian’s room appropriately features a sports theme dedicated to UF. A mural of its stadium forms the backdrop for a bed covered in the Gators’ team colors of orange and blue.
