Leather, silk, linen, taffeta, chenille and damask are just a few of the rich fabrics that made their debut at this year’s “Celebration of Textiles.”
Held at the Design Center of the Americas in Dania Beach, Fla., this springtime event showcases line after line of exquisite textiles from around the world. More than 20 showrooms participated with previews of new collections, as well as special guest speakers who elaborated on their design inspiration.
Jeffrey Michaels & Co. with Harsey & Associates hosted one of the highlights of the day — a luncheon complete with a Tuscan wine tasting to introduce three new European brands in the United States — Christian Fischbacher, Blue Home and Kligi.
Kravet invited visitors to view its new “Spring Extravaganza” collection, while Lee Jofa took guests to the islands with the “Calypso” collection from Groundworks. Striking vignettes showcased Nessen Showrooms’ spring line. And J. Batchelor premiered artist David “Lebo” Le Batard’s caricature-style textiles.
“The number of new lines and the presence of internationally renowned designers made this a very special day,” says Joan Kerns Kauffman, DCOTA’s executive vice president and general manager.
