As Florida Design celebrates its 15th anniversary, it’s only
fitting that we take this opportunity to recognize the many designers,
architects and builders whose work has appeared in our publication.
Your creativity is the reason for our success.
Our focus over the past 15 years has been to present a wide range
of innovative designs, and the Greek Mediterranean-style estate featured
inside is certainly one-of-a-kind.
Owner John Turchin, a Miami builder/designer, and his wife, Susan,
drew inspiration for its design from their favorite vacation spots.
Blending the best of Greek island, Mexican and Southwest styles, this
magnificent home on Hibiscus Island gives new meaning to the term
“creative white space.”
Passionate about Italian architecture, Leo and Lisa Schigiel renovated
their 1930s-era home on Miami’s La Gorce Island to emulate a
timeworn villa in Tuscany. The couple gutted the interior and added
a two-story wing, with Leo designing many of the interior

architectural elements. The project proved to be a labor of love
for the likeminded couple.
Streamlined and modern with a tropical punch describes the look designer
Ada Pagano created for her clients’ condominium in Indian Shores,
located on Florida’s Gulf Coast. To achieve the light and airy
ambiance they desired, Pagano mixed clean-lined furnishings with primitive
pieces, and then added splashes of bright color for an island kick.
Designer Cindy West Ray revitalizes a Palm Beach retreat with a reconfigured
floor plan and straightforward design. Throughout the interior, Ray
used a palette of sky blue, seafoam green and sandy hues to pay tribute
to the owners’ love of the ocean.
These features and much more celebrate the talent among us, making
this issue a “keeper.”
