of Florida Design, we feature several homes
that break with convention, including the one
featured on our cover.
Reflecting the talents of architects Mitch Kunik
and Brian Collins and designers Michael Wolk
and Roxana Matticoli, this Boca Raton house
cuts an imposing figure with its strong horizontal
lines, mix of natural and industrial materials,
and sleek furnishings. Influenced by a mélange
of 20th-century styles, its organic yet contemporary
design conveys an early American and European
Modern aesthetic.
Barry Sugerman’s progressive architecture
and John Marquette’s minimal interior
design create an effortless flow of interconnected
spaces in a house located in Pinerest. Clean
intersecting lines and Mondrian-inspired windows
form the framework, while natural materials
and finishes shape the inside of this exceptional
Miami modern.
“Extraordinary” also describes a
world-class yacht named Kiss the Sky. Its owners
bought the vessel sight unseen from one of the
top boatbuilders in the world and then retained
Patrick Knowles and Aileen Rodriguez to embellish
it from bow to stern with fine art, exquisite
furnishings and rich colors. A rare blend of
sophistication and nautical detail, this home
afloat exudes luxury inside and out.
Like the yacht, a Palm Beach estate makes a
lasting impression with its eclectic blend of
antiques, Neoclassical pieces and original works
by Miró, Picasso and Dali. Designed by
Allison Paladino, the refined interior complements
the exterior’s classic architecture.
From modern masterpieces to traditional twists,
