| THE MAN WITH the Midas
touch, Donald J. Trump is known for mastering the
art of the deal. But he’s also mastered the
art of renovation, turning nuggets of opportunity
into multimillion-dollar goldmines, such as The Mar-a-Lago
Club in Palm Beach. Restored to its original grandeur,
the former estate of Marjorie Merriweather Post is
one of Trump’s crowning achievements. In this
issue, we offer a glimpse inside his luxurious private
club.
Susan and Jim Keenan enlisted the design expertise
of William R. Eubanks and Mitch Brown to remodeled
their Regency-style home on Palm Beach’s north
end. To give the home its formal structure, the design
duo added molding and architectural elements. Then
they expertly blended antiques and Asian pieces to
instill the interior with a Grand Tour feel.
In Key Largo, a private retreat casts a magical spell
with its exotic mystique. The owners, who bought the
property knowing it would have to be gutted and rebuilt,
turned to designer Martín Martinez to complete
the interior design. Working closely with his clients,
Martinez created an oasis in the Florida Keys that
truly indulges the senses.
Farther up the road in Key Biscayne, designers Carola
Hinojosa and Juan Poggi revamped the interior of their
client’s home. Fulfilling the owner’s
request for a chic yet inviting interior, the designers
balanced modern-day furnishings with ethnic objects
and contemporary art.
This issue also focuses on several “must-see”
art exhibits:“Fashioning Art: Handbags by Judith
Leiber” at the Boca Raton Museum of Art, “Tutankhamun
and the Golden Age of Pharaohs” at the Museum
of Art/Fort Lauderale, and Art Miami at the Miami
Beach Convention Center.
Cheers to the New Year!
