Alfredo Paredes Honors Travel and Tradition in New Designs

Memories become design in Alfredo Paredes’ hands

24

Miami-reared designer Alfredo Paredes has been rather busy as of late.

The tastemaker recently revealed a new collection of fabrics for Kravet Couture titled Cocuyo, which draws on his Spanish heritage and years of travel. The line reflects Paredes’ appreciation for time-worn textures and artisanal techniques through plush chenille, lofty bouclé, robust weaves, and hand-dyed textiles for numerous applications.

Also new, a collection of furniture inspired by his mother’s and grandmother’s stories of their native Havana, 1970s Coconut Grove, and Paredes’ trips around the world. Within said collection is the Miami Beach family, a line that includes a barstool, counter stool, and dining chair.

A win-win? All of Paredes’ new furniture pieces can be customized with any of his Cocuyo fabrics.
