Easy Elegance in Contemporary Moorings Home

An all-new Moorings residence in Naples pairs contemporary architecture with natural textures and a relaxed approach to indoor-outdoor living

In The Moorings, where proximity to the Gulf waters and downtown Naples is measured in minutes, the most successful new homes demonstrate that true luxury is ultimately about how a property lives. On Putter Point Drive, a quiet enclave just off Crayton Road, a 7,475-square-foot residence was conceived around that principle. A short walk from the beach, the property’s secluded setting offers privacy and tranquility, with glimpses of Moorings Bay from the second floor.

The homeowners were drawn to the property for its combination of location, privacy, and convenience, as well as for the level of design and craftsmanship associated with the two companies that brought it to life, Diamond Custom Homes and EDGE Cabinetry | Interior Design | Closets.

For Karen Velasco-Carter, director of architectural services at Diamond, the starting point was not an aesthetic statement but a carefully considered plan. “Our design approach with this project focused on creating an open-concept layout that provides a natural flow from one space to the next without compromising functionality,” she says. “Every room was carefully planned to maximize usability while maintaining a sense of openness, comfort, and connection.”

That clarity gives the interiors their ease. Belle Fortte, senior interior designer at EDGE, layered natural materials, contemporary detailing, and coastal references without allowing any element to dominate. Stone, warm woods, rattan, and black accents establish a sophisticated palette, while floor-to-ceiling sliding doors immediately connect the great room with the landscape beyond. “The home feels luxurious but not overpowering or too grandiose,” says Fortte. “It feels intentional.”

The main living spaces are organized with equal consideration for entertaining and everyday life. The great room flows naturally into the dining area, kitchen, and bar, while expansive sliding doors extend the interior to a pool and outdoor living area, maximizing the lush tropical landscaping beyond. Rather than creating separate destinations, the design allows the first floor to function as one fluid environment. Outside, custom ceiling details and a cocktail table with a built-in fire pit give the covered living area a private resort atmosphere, while dense landscaping preserves the property’s intimacy.

The first-floor primary suite is similarly calibrated. Tall, beamed ceilings and broad windows frame the greenery, while a morning bar connects the bedroom to the bath. Two vanities, private water closets, and separate walk-in wardrobes provide privacy within the suite. Across the hall, a simply detailed wine display becomes a visual moment before the floating staircase leads upward alongside a large custom mural.

The second floor was given a different role. “We wanted to optimize the home in the best way possible,” says Fortte. “That’s why the first floor was designed with those who live there in mind and the second floor—which includes three bedrooms, a flex room with a balcony, and a second laundry room—was designed for visiting family and other guests.”

That philosophy captures the larger idea behind the residence: luxury not for display, but luxury that quietly removes friction from daily life. As Velasco-Carter puts it: “Every design decision—from the floor plan and material selections to the custom cabinetry and architectural details—was made to create a home that is beautiful, highly functional, and built to meet the owners’ needs for years to come.”
